Description from the seller
New series – Glam
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence, and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence led to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured, and recombined by the artist. From a distance, the image appears immediately legible, strong, and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture made of thousands of secretly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary image and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and unique work.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear support. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with UV- and humidity-resistant flexible lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity of colors, and a modern, contemporary look.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he pursues author and musician work, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photobook, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the group FRENZY.
