Description from the seller
New Series – Lost Souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of imagery in urban spaces. He first became known for a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relation to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has developed a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of subtly intertwined elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary imagery and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Profile
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops authorial work and music, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
