Description from the seller
New series – Lost souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on the gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Then drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Contemporary photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated thanks to current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously reassembled by the artist. From afar, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of subtly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, a constant requirement for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary image and the way a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and singular work.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant coating, guaranteeing excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops authorial work and music including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the group FRENZY.
