Description from the seller
New Series – Stone's Spirit
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer-artists, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made his name with a series devoted to storefront dummies, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn by the singular aesthetic of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recombined by the artist. From a distance, the image appears immediately legible, bold and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture composed of thousands of elements subtly intertwined. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary imagery and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and unique artwork.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with a soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resilience, color stability, and a modern, contemporary appearance.
Background
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops authorial and musical projects including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the group FRENZY.
