Description from the seller
This is a stunning Nikka Yoichi Single Malt 10 Years Old (70cl / 700ml, 45% ABV), a highly regarded Japanese single malt from Nikka’s legendary Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido (founded 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru). This revival edition revives the classic age-stated expression (discontinued around 2015 due to stock constraints), vatted from ex-bourbon, new oak, and sherry casks for exceptional balance.
Yoichi is renowned for its lightly peaty, smoky profile — influenced by coal-fired pot stills (a rare traditional method), cool climate maturation, and peaty underground water source near the sea, adding subtle saline and medicinal notes. Expect a complex, elegant dram with fruity depth.
Official / Recent Tasting Notes:
• Colour: Bright amber with golden highlights.
• Nose: Firm and herbaceous; burnt wood, peppery spices, fresh menthol, barley malt, apple, apricot, subtle peat smoke, vanilla, and pastry richness.
• Palate: Smooth and lively; round vanilla, iris, lavender, well-integrated oakiness transcending fruity notes (apricot, raisins, yuzu hints), creamy pastry, light earthy peat.
• Finish: Long, dry, and complex — remarkable balance of oak, fruit, floral, and gentle smoke.
Bottle and original box in excellent/mint condition — full fill level, pristine labels, intact capsule, no leaks or damage. Stored carefully. A desirable piece for Japanese whisky enthusiasts or collectors seeking the iconic Yoichi character in a 10-year-old format.
Perfect for sipping neat or with a drop of water to open up the layers. Limited revival batches make this increasingly sought-after.
Happy bidding — a true gem from Japan’s whisky heritage!
