The legend has it that it was in order to "kill time" that A. Breton and P. Eluard embarked on writing this collection, with a cultivated sense of provocation, "The Immaculate Conception".
The collection consists of four distinct sections: "The Man", "The Possessions", "The Meditations" and
"The Original Judgment".
Original edition numbered on impervious paper: No. 867.
Cover illustration drawn by Dalí.
Surrealist texts written by four hands.
Spine worn
Small tear at the top of the cover.
Foxing spots.

No shipping to the United States following the new legislation.

Library of Joseph Noiret, Belgian surrealist artist.
In 1953, Joseph Noiret founded and directed, with Marcel Havrenne and Théodore Koënig, the revue Phantomas, of which he would be one of its main organizers.

Ink signature of Marcel Havrenne with the note "19 February 1931" on the half-title page.
Marcel Havrenne (1912-1957) was a Belgian poet and a member of the surrealist group Rupture.
From 13 to 27 October 1935, he participated in the organization of the Surrealist Exhibition of La Louvière.
He acted in Perséphone (1951), the only film of the Cobra group.
