Description from the seller
This sole collection of poems published during Charles Cros's lifetime, in 1873, occupies a fundamental place as a precursor of surrealism.
Although written in the heart of the 19th century, this collection deeply fascinated André Breton and Louis Aragon, who saw in the author a visionary genius.
The poems in this collection are characterized by juxtaposed disparate images, dreamlike visions, and great freedom of tone.
C. Cros was one of the first to use surrealist images in poetry and to play with the sounds and musicality of words.
It is precisely this linguistic audacity that heralds the surrealist revolution.
Second edition, partly original, as 46 pieces appear for the first time.
Endpapers slightly short.
Traces of original creases on the cover.
Small tears at the back (see photos).
No shipping to the United States due to the new legislation.
