A 4/4 viola labeled Enrico Rocca fu Giuseppe, made in Genova in 1915 and premiato alle esposizioni Milan 1881, Arezzo 1882, Torino 1884, Bologna 1888, Palermo 1892 and Genova with two medals, in good physical condition and tested and playable, weighing 0.6 kg with no extras and country of origin unknown.

You are bidding on a very fine and rare 4/4 viola, labeled Rocca Enrico fu Giuseppe premiato alle esposizioni Milano 1881 Arezzo 1882 Torino 1884 Bologna 1888 Palermo 1892 Genova 2 Medaglie 1892-93 Fecit in Genova anno Domini 1915. The instrument is in ready to play condition with no cracks.
The viola has an excellent straight high to medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of irregular flamed maple with matched sides. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The whole length of the violin is 665 mm and the back 406 mm. Width of the upper bout: 191 mm; middle: 130 mm; lower: 236 mm. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power.
