Artist Biography
Born in 1989, of French, Austrian, and Czech origins, Agathe Toman is a multidisciplinary French artist whose work spans painting, poetry, drawing, and photography.
Based between Hossegor and Paris, she develops an abstract body of work where art, psychology, and exploration of inner states meet.
Listed with Sotheby’s since 2021, her works have repeatedly appeared at auction and today figure in many international private collections. She has also participated in several contemporary art fairs, including Art Paris.
Her practice is distinguished by the use of deep pigments, notably black and blue, as well as her Bic pen drawings, recognizable by their hypnotic graphic structures.
Alongside her artistic practice, Agathe Toman pursues extensive study of psychoanalysis, enriching the conceptual and introspective dimension of her work.
Her oeuvre explores the links between psyche, body, and environment, and interrogates themes of identity, memory, and human experience.
