Robert Capa, the pseudonym of Endre Ernő Friedmann (Budapest, Hungary), October 22, 1913 – Thai Binh, Vietnam, May 25, 1954), was a Hungarian war correspondent and photojournalist of the 20th century. He left Hungary at the age of 17. He travelled around the world in search of the best shots for his camera. This took him to Mexico, Italy, France, Japan, Indochina, Vietnam, Israel, England, or North Africa.
His first published photograph, taken in 1932, showed Leon Trotsky delivering a lecture on the Russian Revolution. He managed to obtain the shot despite the rally being off-limits to cameras.
