The inhabitants of San Ildefonso are Pueblo Indians and speak Tewa, a language of the Kiowa-Tano linguistic family. San Ildefonso is the Spanish name for Saint Ildefonsus. The Spaniards named their missions after saints of the Catholic Church. The indigenous name is Pokwoge and means Where the water cuts through. The pueblo is located in the southwestern United States, on the Rio Grande in New Mexico, about 40 kilometers northwest of Santa Fe at the foot of the Pajarito Mountains.

The offered pot was made around 1910 in the San Ildefonso Pueblo.

It has a diameter of 21 cm and is 22 cm high.
