Giuliano Grittini, Playboy, 2017, mixed media on paper, original edition, 70 cm by 50 cm, 1 kg, Italy, Pop Art portrait, hand-signed.
Description from the seller
The artist Giuliano Grittini (Corbetta 1951) is an Italian photographer, art printer and visual artist known for having invented the technique of "Cracker Art". This special technique involves the use of precious materials (such as gold and silver leaf) and the artist's direct manual interventions on prints or photographs. The image is "crumpled" or dismantled and then reassembled, often with the addition of writings, glitter and varnish, making each piece unique, unlike the serial productions typical of pop art. In this artwork he portrays Marilyn Monroe as she climbs a staircase, in a style that recalls pop art with the original photo of Marilyn Monroe on the staircase—an iconic image from 1954 shot on set, often attributed to Bettmann/Getty Images. A mixed technique that incorporates photographic elements, text and an aged appearance, "cracker art" that simulates a torn poster or a collage on paper. The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped with contracted couriers. For this lot shipments outside the European Community are not made.
