Description from the seller

Rare authentic Empire pendulum clock from circa 1805, signed “Le Gras à Paris – Rue St Martin N181.” This elegant French mantel clock is finished in mahogany veneer with glass side panels and refined gilded brass accents. The large, spherical white enamel dial with finely open-work hands and a gilded bronze rim exudes pure Empire allure.

The original movement is in exceptionally well-preserved condition, striking the hours and half-hours on an antique bell with an extremely refined and stable pendulum motion. The mer-cury-gilded pendulum lens and mirrored interior give the clock additional depth and elegance.

The clock was professionally revised on 2 November 1991: the movement was completely cleaned, the pivots polished, provided with new bearings, cleaned and re-adjusted (“regulation in order”).

Fully authentic, technically cared for, and an exceptional collectible for lovers of French Empire antiques.
