Description from the seller
Characterful Chinese silver bead necklace with turquoise – vintage ethnographic jewelry
A distinctive and characterful vintage necklace, originating from China, made with traditional silver beads combined with natural turquoise stones. This type of necklace is characteristic of Chinese ethnic jewelry, where silver and turquoise have played an important role for centuries in both decorative and symbolic contexts.
The necklace consists of irregularly shaped turquoise stones in two clearly different shades: a bright blue-green color and a deeper blue-green variant. This natural variation points to authentic turquoise, presumably of Asian origin (such as Tibetan or Chinese turquoise), known for its vivid color and often subtle matrix. The stones are set in organic nugget shapes, enhancing the artisanal character.
Between the turquoise elements are traditional silver beads, partly oxidized, which provides a beautiful contrast and depth in the design. The necklace also contains two elongated, decoratively worked silver elements with floral motifs, typical of Chinese silverwork. Centrally in the necklace is a larger silver bead that visually balances the piece.
The clasp is marked with “Silver,” an indication that is common on older export pieces and ethnographic jewelry.
With a length of about 84 cm, the necklace can be worn long and forms a striking and authentic ethnographic piece with a rich appearance.
