MARIO RUSSO was an Italian painter, father of the well-known actress Adriana Russo. Born in Naples in 1925, he graduated in 1948 from the Institute of Art of Naples, and during his years at school his constant concern was always the human figure, which would be at the center of his canvases. The following years would lead him to the evolution of the most important aspect of his painting: Woman. The Master is captivated by the sense of beauty, which is the characteristic of a female body permeated with sensuality. In 1950 he moved to Rome and began participating in exhibitions around the world: Paris, London, Munich, New York, at the Royalton College in Vermont and in Toronto at Sudbury University.
In 1987 he was present in Washington with an exhibition dedicated to Federico Fellini’s cinema. In 1992 the retrospective at the Museo di Roma and in 1994 in Messina the exhibition entitled “Portrait of a Woman.” In 1997, in New York, by invitation of Alitalia, he had a solo show at JFK Airport.
