Description from the seller
Description
Decorative Art Nouveau candy box in opaline, yellow-white marbled glass with finely executed enamel decoration.
The domed lid features a stylized bird on a floral branch with fruit – a typical natural motif of French Art Nouveau around 1900. The body is adorned all around with floral ornaments.
The container is set in a copper-colored metal mounting and stands on a decorative wire foot with spherical feet. Side rings and a hinged lid complete the elegant construction.
Inside there is a handmade signature “C.G.”, presumably the signature of an enamel decorator or workshop.
Such objects were frequently produced around the turn of the century in France, often in the milieu of the glass factories Legras / Montjoye, whose glass blanks were further processed by Parisian decorators and haberdashery workshops.
A very decorative collectibles piece of French Art Nouveau.
