This chopper was made from local quartzite.
The site of Alpiarça south of Lisbon has yielded quite a lot of Middle Paleolithic material during the construction of a swimming pool and a park.
These choppers are associated with tools from the later Acheulean (Micoquian) at this find.
Softly patinated rolling traces, intact, no restorations. Nice working traces (see detail photos)
Dimensions 84 x 63 mm
