In the depth of this blue, a soft light seems to emerge — as if it comes from the heart of a glacier itself. The surface appears rough and drawn, like ice shaped over years by wind, by water and by time. Between dark, heavy blues a bright glow breaks forth, delicate and at the same time powerful.

It recalls the moment when sunlight penetrates ancient ice and the cold blue suddenly comes to life. The painting carries something still within it—a quietness, as one finds only in wide, icy landscapes. At the same time it tells of movement, of melting ice, of water seeking its path.

"Glacier Light" is a play of depth, cold, and hope: a brief moment in which the light itself still finds its way through the oldest ice.

Christoph Prein is an Austrian artist known for his abstract and contemporary works, created mainly with acrylic paints.
