VANTA, Rime, an original oil painting on canvas, hand signed, in excellent condition, 170 cm by 140 cm, depicting a portrait, produced in Austria in a contemporary style, sold direct from the artist.
Description from the seller
“Rime” (2026)
Oil on canvas
174 x 140 cm
A male face fills the canvas at close range, head tilting fractionally as a cloth winds tight across the eyes. The curling hair, the jaw, the open mouth caught in quiet tension - all carved from deep blue oil paint through careful removal, the figure arriving with the weight and authority of ancient stone. The blindfold crosses the face in horizontal bands, its wrapped layers as precisely rendered as the features it obscures.
VANTA has concentrated the removal work around the face with particular intensity - the cloth’s edge pressing just below the brow line, the slight parting of the lips suggesting breath held or words unsaid. Represented by S-Gallery and available on Catawiki. The tilt of the head introduces an ambiguity that a straight-on gaze would not allow - something between surrender and defiance, between listening and enduring.
The eyes are gone. What remains is everything around them - and the absence reads louder than sight would.
Shipping:
The work is delivered without a frame (professional packaging, rolled in a tube). it can easily be restretched by a professional or on your own, this is also cheaper then the otherwise increased cost of shipping when sending paintings of this size stretched
The measurements indicated are those of the painting stretched and mounted on a frame (The actual
measurements of the canvas are larger to allow it to be mounted on a frame 2-4cm thick.
