The composition opens in depth from a wide, sunny sandy foreground, where some figures dressed in elegant attire stroll in pairs. The characters wear typical Belle Époque outfits: hats, long women's dresses, and men's suits, rendered with quick, concise brushstrokes that suggest movement and vitality.
In the center of the square stands a sculptural monument on a high plinth, around which city life concentrates. A carriage drawn by white horses crosses the scene, guided by a coachman, while numerous passersby move in different directions, creating a dynamic weave of presences.
