Stevens Alfred, 1823 - 1906 Paris.
Portrait painter, genre scenes and landscapes.
Education at the Brussels Academy under E.-J. Navez.
Further perfected himself in Paris.
There he befriended Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Baudelaire.
Among the first to introduce Japanese elements into his artworks.
His works are in many renowned private collections and museums around the world, e.g. in Antwerp, Liège, Paris, Nancy, London, Munich, and many others.
Library information about him is abundant.
He is listed in art books such as Benezit, Arto and Piron.
