Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Original wooden keris handle from Java, Indonesia, dating to the late 20th century, measuring 9 cm high, 4 cm wide and 3 cm deep, in excellent condition and from a private collection.
Description from the seller
A superb old keris handle, most likely originating from Java and dating to the early 20th century. The handle displays the refined sculptural qualities characteristic of Javanese keris hilts, where elegance of form and balance were highly valued.
Keris handles were often carefully carved to complement the spiritual and symbolic importance of the blade. In Javanese tradition, the keris is not merely a weapon but a revered heirloom associated with status, protection, and ancestral power.
This example comes from an old collection and was acquired in situ, adding to its authenticity and historical appeal. The pleasing patina and age-related wear testify to long use and careful preservation, making it an attractive piece for collectors of Indonesian arms and ethnographic art.
