*André Cottavoz was born in 1922 in Saint-Marcellin, Isère, France. After completing his studies, he participated in several exhibitions from 1945 onward. In 1953 he was awarded the Fénéon Prize. In his works on paper (drawings, etchings, etc.), the handling of light takes center stage. He often used the white surface of the paper as an active element to create the “inner brightness” that was typical for him.
His artworks, especially his large-format drawings, are often highly sought after.
