SANFILIPPO, IL ponte, an oil on canvas landscape (100 × 150 cm), created in 2015, original edition, signed, sold with a minimalist wooden frame, in good condition.
Description from the seller
The bridge is an oil painting on canvas, 100 × 150 cm, in which the painting structures itself as a mental and affective map. The abstract composition recalls an organic fabric, a direct allusion to the morphology of the city of Venice, a place where the artist has long resided and a fundamental matrix of his research.
The image does not describe, but evokes: from memory emerges a fragment of the lagoon city seen from above, reorganized according to an organic and pulsating principle. The painted surface behaves like a living organism, in which reds, blacks, blues, yellows and ochres build a dense and stratified chromatic rhythm, evocative of a lived time, of a collective and festive experience that traverses fields, calli and canals.
At the center of the composition the bridge asserts itself, an essential black mark and symbolic sign, which takes on the value of an archetype: an element of connection, passage and relation, capable of uniting spaces, times and apparently separate emotional dimensions. The bridge thus becomes the visual and conceptual fulcrum of the work, a place of tension and synthesis.
The artist performs a transfiguration of memory, transforming recollection into painting matter. Color and form do not illustrate, but activate an emotional resonance that returns a moment of happy life, filtered through time and brought back to a universal dimension.
The work is completed by a minimalist frame in wooden slats, preserving the essential nature of the work without interfering with the expressive force of the surface.
On the back of the canvas is present the certificate of authenticity; the artist’s signature is placed in the lower right.
