Description from the seller

Born in 1936 in Soloba, Mali. Died in Bamako in April 2016. From Malick Sidibé's body of work one first knows the documentary photographs, taken at the after-parties organized by young people fond of music and freedom as the country prepares for independence.
In 1962, he opens the 'Studio Malick' in Bamako. The studio portrait will constitute the major part of his work. People come from all over to have their portrait done by the eye of Bamako… Mentioned at the first Rencontres de la Photographie de Bamako, he is exhibited at the Fondation Cartier in Paris then in major galleries and museums around the world. He receives the Hasselblad Prize in 2003 then the Lion d’or in 2007.

Certificates provided (Galerie Art-Z), 24-hour shipping, careful packing and insurance.
