Description from the seller
Title
Fred Bervoets (1942) – Unique original etching plate – expressive studio object – framed (31.5 × 24.5 × 4 cm)
Description
Special and rare studio object by the Antwerp-based artist Fred Bervoets (born 1942). It is the original etching plate on which the scene was directly engraved by the artist. This is not a print, but the authentic printing matrix itself – the unique object used to produce the prints.
The plate shows a characteristic figure in Bervoets’ recognizable style: strong, expressive, and slightly grotesque, with a spontaneous and energetic line work. The work reflects the direct and unpolished visual language for which the artist is internationally valued.
The etching plate is professionally framed and presented as an autonomous art object, giving the whole the appearance of a painting. The presentation is arranged so that no distracting glass reflections are visible, allowing the subject to be clearly and directly seen. This makes it both a special collectible and a striking visual work for the wall.
Original graphic plates by artists are rarely offered and provide a unique glimpse into the creative process. They combine artistic, historical, and documentary value.
A beautiful and intriguing object for collectors of Belgian art and the oeuvre of Fred Bervoets.
