Medsan presents Cyber Dohyo (サイバー土俵), a 40 × 60 cm hand-signed giclée on stretched canvas, edition limited, 1 of 1, created in 2026, in excellent condition and originating from France, depicting a VR-equipped sumo wrestler in a contemporary pop art style.
Description from the seller
MEDSAN - The Cyber Ring – Le Dohyo Virtuel – Cyber Dohyo
With this vertically oriented work in an unprecedented format (40x60 cm), Medsan continues his bold exploration and delivers a new striking vision that is resolutely technological of traditional Japan. This print depicts the heaviest figure of tradition and spirituality in Japanese culture — a Sumo wrestler (Rikishi) — reimagined in full combat within the metaverse.
The visual and temporal contrast is striking: depicted in full shiko (the ancestral ritual of lifting the leg to drive away evil spirits), our colossal wrestler wears his traditional mawashi and wields a war fan (gunbai). But the impact occurs on his face: he is completely immersed in an ultra-modern and minimalist virtual reality (VR) headset. The warrior physically rooted to the ground now fights on a digital plane.
The impact of the work also rests on the composition of its background. While the lower part of the canvas faithfully represents the dohyo (the clay-and-rice straw fighting arena), the rest of the piece is dominated by a vivid, solid green background. This decor absence, highly inspired by modern Pop Art, highlights the subject’s muscular tension and the irony of the situation. The traditional vertical cartouche at the top right, bearing the signature "Medsan" in katakana (メドサン), seals this perfect collision between the millennial Edo-era tradition and our age of hyper-connected digital living.
A piece of wild charisma, at once powerful and ironic, ideal for adding a pop, colorful, and very contemporary touch to a design-forward interior.

About the Workshop:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Installed as a true production space for art, the studio operates both in collaborative creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive research, mixing abstract art, naïve art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the atelier, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
