Description from the seller
Large Chinese porcelain Prunus vase with plum blossom – cobalt blue – 29 cm - Jingdezhen style - mid-century period
Elegant Chinese porcelain Prunus vase with a classic plum blossom decoration on a deep cobalt blue background, also known as the “hawthorn pattern.” The motif shows a blooming tree with white blossoms and subtle green accents above a stylized landscape.
The plum blossom is a beloved motif in Chinese art and symbolizes perseverance, hope, and the arrival of spring, because this flower blooms in the middle of winter. The pattern is inspired by traditional designs from the Qing dynasty and regained popularity in the 20th century in Jingdezhen porcelain production, the historic center of Chinese porcelain.
The vase features a harmonious baluster shape with a broad shoulder and a slightly flaring neck. The base bears a red stamp mark.
A decorative object that is attractive both as an interior piece and as a collection item of Chinese porcelain.
