Mid‑century Danish teak wooden sculpture of a heron, ca. 1960–1970, in good vintage condition with minor signs of age, on slender metal legs with a wooden base, measuring 23 cm high, 20 cm wide and 5.5 cm deep, made by Deens Fabrikaat in the Scandinavisk design tradition.
Description from the seller
Mid-Century Modern wooden heron / crane – Scandinavian style – circa 1960–1975
Elegant mid-century wooden bird sculpture in the form of a heron or crane, crafted from solid teak / hardwood and mounted on slender brass-colored metal legs with an organically shaped wooden base.
The minimalist design with a long bill and graceful S-shaped neck clearly aligns with the Scandinavian design tradition of the 1960s. This type of decorative object was commonly used at the time as a stylish interior accent on teak sideboards, bookcases and dressers in modern interiors.
The sculptural character of the bird is enhanced by the slender metal legs and the asymmetrically shaped plinth, giving the whole piece a light and elegant appearance. The warm wood grain and the hand-shaped character make each piece unique.
Such birds are often attributed to the Scandinavian modernist design style of the period 1960–1975 and are collected as decorative mid-century objects.
A particularly decorative object that works excellently as both a design accessory and a collector’s item.
Dimensions: H 23 cm x W 20 cm x D 5.5 cm
The piece is in beautiful vintage condition with light signs of use appropriate to its age.
A stylish focal point for any interior or design collection.
It will be securely packed and shipped by registered mail with tracking and insurance.
