This refined Kutani ware guinomi (sake cup) is a work attributed to Yoshida Minori (吉田美統), a celebrated Kutani master and Living National Treasure recognized in 2001 for his mastery of Yūri-Kinsai (under-glaze gold decoration).
The cup features a luminous emerald-green ground adorned with elegant floral motifs rendered in gold leaf. The gold decoration is protected beneath a transparent glaze, creating a soft, enduring radiance rather than the surface brilliance of conventional overglaze gilding. This technique allows the gold to maintain its brilliance without discoloration or peeling over time.
