ONIINK - Tokyo After Dark – BMW M3 E46

This work captures the iconic presence of the BMW M3 E46 in the night streets of Tokyo. Illustrated beneath an imposing urban structure, the car appears low and aggressive, bathed in the warm lights of the city.

The blooming cherry blossoms (sakura) provide a poetic contrast with the raw aesthetics of the urban environment and the car’s setup. The nocturnal lighting, reflections on the asphalt, and the Japanese characters reinforce the filmic atmosphere of the scene.

Contemporary visual artist working mainly with Photoshop and Lightroom, my work blends digital illustration and cinematic urban aesthetics. My pieces explore the meeting between automotive culture, nocturnal atmospheres, and Japanese symbolism.

I draw inspiration from Shintoism, Nihonga painting, and certain forms of abstraction inspired by gesture and ink. The visual universe of my images also draws on Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive film, particularly in the colorimetric approach: strong contrasts, neon lights, and nocturnal atmospheres that give each scene an almost cinematic dimension.

Japanese automotive culture occupies a central place in my work, especially the aesthetics of radical builds by Akira Nakai and the heritage of hashiriya culture. Through my compositions, I seek to give cars a nearly mythological presence, where the machine becomes a character evolving in an urban setting rich in symbolism.

My images are designed to create a sense of space and depth, placing the viewer at the heart of the scene, like a suspended moment between reality, urban culture, and visual imagination.
