Between Us, the first edition by Alec Soth, signed on the title page, with texts in English and Chinese, hardcover with dust jacket, 160 pages, 27 x 19 cm, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Exceptionally signed edition on the title page by Alec Soth (born 1969), unique and unavailable on the internet as a signed copy, extremely rare as an unsigned copy. 160 pages and about 80 photographs, almost all in color, full-page or double-page, texts in English and Chinese by Alec Soth, Liu Heung Shing, Zhang Wenxin, Shi Hantao, and Karen Smith. Sturdy white-cloth hardcover with the title stamped in blind on tone-on-tone and a mounted photograph, and a white semi-transparent dust jacket. In excellent condition, practically new.
Alec Soth rose to prominence in 2004 with a series of portraits of residents of American small towns, a project titled “Sleeping by the Mississippi.” This was followed by a succession of projects exploring themes such as love, invisibility, and escape, each within the context of life in the American Midwest. With his unique vision, Soth is regarded as one of the greatest contemporary photographers of the American social and geographic landscape.
“The Space Between Us” presents representative works from each of Soth’s major series: “Perfect Strangers,” “Looking for Love,” “Sleeping by the Mississippi,” “Niagara,” “The Last Days of W,” “Broken Manual,” “Songbook,” and “I Know How Furiously Your Heart Is Beating.” Working by series is an important and distinctive aspect of his approach. “What characterizes a great photographer is not taking one extraordinary photo,” he says, “but knowing how to build an extraordinary collection.”
Exemplar in excellent condition, practically like new, a book from my personal collection kept with the greatest care. Protected shipping with reinforced packaging and guaranteed international tracked postal service. In case of multiple purchases, possibility of grouped shipping with reimbursement of excess postage paid via PayPal.
