AFTER US
Fine Art Photography by Inna Etuvgi

“Just as we once diverged from primates to become human, everything is accelerating again. I wonder: who or what comes after us? Will we become the ‘younger siblings’ to a new form of intelligence?”

In "After Us," the primate form of the machine suggests that our technology might currently be at the stage of "highly evolved primates"—standing on the very brink of developing its own consciousness.

This work raises an unsettling question: if a new form of awareness is about to emerge, what will our role be? Will we remain the masters, or will we become the ‘younger siblings’ to our own creations? Through this tender yet haunting scene, Inna Etuvgi explores whether consciousness is the ultimate goal of evolution and what happens to humanity when it is no longer the sole possessor of a complex mind. And maybe in the face of a new "Sapiens," our capacity for connection might be our most vital legacy.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Inna Etuvgi is a Swedish-Chukchi artist whose work defines the concept of Cybernetic Animism — a bridge between indigenous Arctic intuition and technical precision. A finalist of the Arte Laguna Prize (Venice) and a recipient of a grant from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee, her work is held in private collections worldwide.

As art critic Tabish Khan notes: “Her work transports us to other worlds—both real and imaginary, but always in harmony with nature.”
