Barbara Nicoletto's Carpet 1 & 2 is a unique two-panel diptych from 2020 in mixed media on Italian cotton canvas, each panel measuring 70 × 80 cm with a 4 cm thickness, signed on the back and unframed.
Description from the seller
- Directly from the studio of the Artist Barbara Nicoletto.
TITLE: CARPET 1 & 2 — Diptych
Contemporary artwork - UNIQUE & ORIGINAL DIPTYCH - DIM. 70X80 X 4 CM. EACH. Directly from Barbara Nicoletto's Studio, painted on Italian cotton canvas, original and unique specimen, mounted on a wooden frame, ready to hang. Unframed. Signed on the back.
Execution technique: mixed media (paper, pigments, iron oxide, pumice and adhesives) on brushed Italian cotton canvas. Sent with BRT-DPD or similar.
This diptych is born from the inspiration of traditional Moroccan wool carpets, part of the painting line 'ESSENTIAL' characterized by dense, tactile surfaces and essential geometric motifs often rendered in natural tones of white and brown.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In “Carpet 1 & 2” these references are reinterpreted in a contemporary key through an exploration of material and surface. The canvases evoke the weave of fabrics and the stratification of time, where marks, oxidations and chromatic variations recall natural surfaces or archaeological landscapes.
The two works dialogue with each other as fragments of a single composition: the central line that separates them becomes at the same time an element of division and continuity, suggesting the idea of a shared visual memory.
The pictorial surface is created with mixed technique, combining paper, pumice and iron oxide pigment, materials that create an intense and natural texture, reinforcing the material and contemporary character of the work.
Title: Carpet 1 & 2
Technique: mixed media (paper, pumice, iron oxide pigment).
Support: gallery cotton canvas
Thickness: 4 cm
Dimensions: 70 × 80 cm each canvas
Work: diptych, unique works
A work of contemporary material abstraction, where artisanal memory, texture and matter meet in a minimal and intense composition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NB. The imperfections and the excess of paper photographed on the sides of the works are deliberately left naturally imprecise, just as the hand-made carpets are. A sign of craftsmanship and love for the working materials. They can be removed and the edges repainted if the buyer requests.

'BARBARA NICOLETTO’ - Italian Artist.
January 1968 - Padua
Active between Reggio Emilia and Padua.
Ever passionate about art and drawing, she continues her studies at the Pietro Selvatico Art Institute in Padua with a specialization in painting, experimenting with various representational techniques such as watercolor, tempera, acrylic, ink, oil and printmaking, thanks to masters who deeply know the oldest techniques and reinterpret them with new formulas and current approaches that make her an ever-innovative and experimental artist.
The search for new stimuli and developmental balance leads her to collaborate in the world of sports, actively combining different disciplines for physical and psychological well-being, which, mixed with the visual arts first, collaborate and support her until guiding her hand in teaching artistic disciplines and new professional goals.
Her art can only evolve and change with the shifting of her mood and curious personality! She will rarely present herself as a single recognizable artistic face in a linear production line, but will flow and astonish with her eclectic versatility.
1989/2011 - She continues her work in the furniture sector as a designer for several important Veneto and Emilia-Romagna companies.
2017 to present - Independent artist; Atelierist, painting student and related subjects at Reart Reggio Emilia.
She continues experimentation also thanks to her great passion for other cultures abroad, deepening her knowledge of analog and digital photography with consequent inspiration for her works.
Curiosity for different ways of artistic expression brings her closer to the world of ceramics, she loves Raku the most.
Technique will be learned and deepened in the great studio of master Nico Toniolo in Marostica.
She participates in various art competitions with works that receive recognition from juries, such as the first prize at Raku Padova Arts in 2001. Further study of the illusionistic technique of marble and stone such as travertine and Carrara marble.
*Currently her most used technique is evolving oil, thanks to the mixing of textured grounds with ultramarine blue, metallic oxides, pumice and whatever the moment or occasion brings her to at that time.
Deep animal looks, distant peoples, moons and fantastic landscapes!
*She works and evolves an innovative original and abstract Sealing style. Unique of its kind.
She participates in numerous exhibitions with varying subjects and themes, making her works appear as if by different hands, all thanks to her imaginative and eclectic transformative ability.
*Her fertile mind leads her to approach art with a new, deeper and more subjective view, stripping it of paradigms with which it is labeled, returning it to its true nature: speaking the language of feelings and the deepest human instincts, beyond words. After three years of study she earned the title of Art Therapist recognized by UNI PRO.
