Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence, and the perception of images in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of work based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each piece is crafted from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured, and recomposed by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in art history through a contemporary visual approach. The aim is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and today’s visual culture. This process allows for a renewed vision of the painting, located at the boundary between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear hanger. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a flexible UV- and moisture-resistant coating, ensuring excellent durability, long-term stability of colors, and a modern, contemporary look.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops authorial and musical projects including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photobook, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer and guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
