Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographer–Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on the gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first came to prominence with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the distinctive aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate subjects acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaics and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recombined by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in art history through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and current visual culture. This approach enables a renewed vision of the painting, situated at the border between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, strong color stability over time, and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
