Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographer and creator of contemporary images
A multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series dedicated to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has developed a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of visual micro-fragments generated using current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in art history through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and current visual culture. This approach enables a renewed vision of the painting, situated at the border between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated back mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musician practice including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. As a singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
