Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographic Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
A multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a disturbing, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is developed from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously recomposed by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in art history through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and current visual culture. This approach allows for a renewed vision of the painting, positioned at the border between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer of choice for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops a writer/author and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
