Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence, and the perception of the image in urban spaces. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and overlays. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Subsequently intrigued by the distinctive aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he deepens this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relation to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of visual microfragments generated using current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured, and recombined by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in art history through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and contemporary visual culture. This approach allows for a renewed vision of the painting, located at the boundary between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated back mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability, and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops a writer’s and musician’s career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and five self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
