Description from the seller
This concerns 2 photographs, 30x30 cm, from my new series Imagine. It is a visual story about a work of art, on a beach by the coast, of wooden piles driven into the ground. Groups of piles are firmly anchored in the sand. Beauty created through order, yet at the same time a balancing act, on the edge between creation and destruction.
The artwork is part of the dynamic coastal landscape, ruled by sea, wind and tides, where it, in a perpetual struggle with the elements, temporarily borrows a piece of the coast, only to disappear again.
This visual narrative is about the groups of piles against the backdrop of the ever-present sea. A calm sea, tranquil skies and wooden piles, waiting for the next confrontation with the elements. Where after high water, around a pile, a beautiful ripple pattern in the sand remains, or a pit and sometimes a small pool of water.
But also about the light that shines on the piles and changes with the rising and setting of the sun, the clouds that pass by.
This visual story is about imagination, seeing the piles through the cycle of the seasons, by moonlight, a starry sky, part of the infinite universe.
But also about seeing the piles in a storm, with a devastatingly strong sea and brooding cloudscapes hanging over the beach. Then the sea and wind scour the anchored piles and put them to the test.
At the coast, time is a relative concept; here the sea, sand and wind relentlessly follow their own timetable. What seems eternal is but a moment here. The artwork remains standing until the sea reclaims a portion of the coast.
Photographic images capture what otherwise would be forgotten without a memory. A visual story, as tangible proof of existence.
The photos are offered in other formats and editions. The total number of views of the same image will never exceed 30. The photographs are printed on Fujifilm Digital Professional DP II Lustre paper with a very fine surface texture, with a white border around them, and are therefore very suitable and easy to frame.
Both photos are delivered with a certificate of authenticity and a label bearing the artist’s signature on the back of the photo.
The photos are carefully packaged in bleached white tissue paper and flat-packed between two layers of cardboard.
