Dong Son bronze bracelet from Indonesia, 10 cm wide, 27 cm high, 3 cm deep, weighing 337 g, dating to the late 20th century, sold with a stand, authentic/original, provenance Galeriehouder / Antiekhandelaar.
Description from the seller
Beautiful old Dong Son bracelet or anklet.
Region: Trowulan East Java Indonesia.
Width: 10cm (height on stand 27cm)
Weight: 337g
This heavy bracelet is to be enjoyed as a nice historical piece of Indonesian ancient history.
The Dong Son culture long remained a mystery to western archaeologists, and it was known only through its bronze objects, many of which were taken from burial sites. Dong Son bronze objects were exhibited in Europe for a century before their original location was determined.
Before the arrival of the Hindu culture in Indonesia, there was a period of pre-history. Not much is known about the culture of this time except that many artefacts came from Dong Son. It was a bronze age culture and their skill in axes, daggers, spears, bracelets, rings and small animals.
