Description from the seller
This red chess set is one of the most popular sets. Thanks to its size, this set can be considered as a travel set as well. These lovely hand-crafted pieces are made from hornbeam and beech wood. The burned folding chessboard is not heavy and has a nice red insert tray for the chess pieces storage inside. Decorative metal clasps keep the board securely locked after play.
Those wanting a decent size, usable, lightweight travel set of acceptable quality for a very reasonable price could do far worse than buy this set. The fact that the board is wooden, folds(great for storage), and has tailored spaces to house the pieces when travelling is enough to recommend it. All round excellent value for a starter/travel set.
Number and letter algebraic coordinates adorn the borders. Decorative metal clasps keep the board securely locked after play.
The simplest and most widely used form of chess notation is the algebraic notation. The edges of the chessboard are marked with letters and numbers.
Chess notation is an easy way to record your games so that you can play them back to study tactics, understand mistakes, or impress your friends. Give the notation a try in your next game – you will see that there is nothing more pleasant than the eye-catching exclamation mark behind the move that wins the game.
Much research has already been done into the benefits of chess for the brains of children. This showed, among other things, that children playing chess perform better at school when it comes to skills such as logical thinking, problem solving, math skills, spatial awareness, and concentration.
