Original vintage poster, first edition of 1967
This Polish poster advertises the Russian film Delegat Floty (The Lion Prepares to Jump) from 1967.
The work was designed by artist Andrzej Krajewski, known for his distinctive style within the famous Polish School of the Poster.
• Original title: "Delegat floty" (1967).
Krajewski's posters have become iconic mid-century graphic design examples, even though they were original editions commissioned by the communist state to promote cultural events; as the only means of expression for artists of the era, a sublime protest against the regime shines through. Hand-printed, with color tones often varying in intensity.
This poster comes from a small Venice gallery, “Centro Posters and Gadgets,” closed in 1971, which mainly dealt with posters, affiches and pop art.
