The Olympic Suite consists of 50 lithographs and silkscreen prints chosen to represent various contemporary artistic trends. It was published to commemorate the first centenary of the modern Olympic Games. Miguel Ortiz Berrocal (1933-2006)
Was a Spanish renowned sculptor known for his mathematical, demountable works, which transformed sculpture into a game between form, space and viewer participation. He trained at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid and later continued his studies in Rome and Paris, where he came into contact with the artistic languages of the European avant-garde.
His work was characterised by the conception of articulated and dismantlable sculptures, composed of multiple pieces that could be assembled in various ways, turning sculpture into a playful and interactive experience. Works such as Goliath, Torero and Citius, Altius, Fortius became benchmarks for this innovative approach.
Berrocal also explored multiple editions of his sculptures, bringing contemporary art to a wider audience and breaking with the idea of sculpture as a unique piece. At the same time, he investigated the relationship between art, science and mathematics, developing a unique language that combined technical precision with artistic imagination.
Throughout his career, he received numerous awards, including the Spanish National Prize for Plastic Arts in 1985. His works are part of collections in museums and public spaces around the world, from Europe to America and Asia.
