Carlo Trevisan’s original 2025 oil on canvas titled Mondo vegetale, a surrealist depiction of nature featuring a solitary tree whose canopy forms the world’s continents, signed by hand with a certificate on the back and mounted to 46 x 46 cm in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
In this oil-on-canvas work, Carlo Trevisan continues his exploration of magical realism and surrealism, offering a powerful visual metaphor on the indivisible bond between the Earth and plant life. Here he embraces a harmonious and universal vision.
The painting depicts a solitary tree whose crowns, modeled with almost cartographic precision, form the profiles of the Earth's continents. It is an image striking for its apparent simplicity, yet it contains a deep ecological and philosophical message.
The Tree as World: The crown is not a random mass of leaves, but a faithful reproduction of the world map (Africa, Europe, America and Oceania are clearly recognizable). This transforms the plant into the symbol itself of the biosphere: the tree is not in the world, the tree is the world.
Trevisan isolates the subject on a neutral and gradient background, ranging from earth tones to iron gray, making the vibrant and tactile green of the leaves stand out. The stylized clouds suspended at the sides emphasize the suspended and dreamlike dimension of the scene.
The work suggests the interdependence between the health of our planet and that of its forests. The branches that support the continents function as vital arteries, reminding us that the stability of our lands directly depends on the roots of nature. The painting is an oil on canvas measuring 36 x 36 cm, mounted with passepartout and faesite for final dimensions of 46x46 cm. Signed on the front by the artist and certified on the back.
