Description from the seller
“Grand Prix de la Gaffe” – Limited edition (100 copies) - New collection 2026
Edition number: 04/100
Artist: SKE
Publisher: Atelier Montmartre Paris
Art paper 300 g – ISO A3 format – Signed, numbered – Certificate included
The Real Boss of Fumbles
The ultimate danger on the circuit isn’t Bowser, it’s Lagaffe. SKE superimposes here the karting champion and the Olympic champion of clumsiness. Gaston, hypnotized by his console, charges straight at the famous banana, a double reference to his universe and to the game’s. Mario panics in the background: he has just realized that against the legendary bad luck of the clumsy, no invincibility star works.
The Style
Technically, it’s a controlled visual collision. SKE mixes the nervous inking of Franco-Belgian comics with the urgency of street art. Retro printing textures for a vintage feel, fluorescent paint drips and a stencil effect on a textured concrete wall background: the line is vivid, seemingly messy yet perfectly mastered for an urban and impactful result.
Features:
• Limited edition of 100 copies
• Printed on premium 300 g art paper
• ISO A3 format, easy to frame
• Each copy signed and numbered by SKE
• Comes with certificate of authenticity
• Shipped with protective packaging, reinforced packing
“Grand Prix de la Gaffe” is a vibrant and joyful piece, designed for collectors who love pop art, revisited comics, and works that tell a story.
A rare edition that will undoubtedly become a flagship element of your collection.
- ARTIST BIO:
SKE is a French self-taught and versatile artist who grew up in 80s/90s culture, inspiring a large portion of his artistic work.
He continually explores new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stencil, graffiti, urban installations and digital art. His dynamic, expressive compositions, often with a double reading, merge the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art.
After an exceptional 2025, SKE’s value has risen noticeably. Winner of the first prize at the Urban Master competition (2023), then elected Revelation of the Year at the Color Jam Challenge (2025).
SKE was selected as “Artist of the Month” in October, and also benefited from a feature in an American art magazine confirming his international recognition.
His works have already been exhibited in major venues in Europe, the United States and Asia, consolidating his place on the contemporary art scene. In parallel, SKE also makes his mark in the digital art market, a major trend in the last two years, strengthening the appeal of his creations to collectors.
Icons of popular culture, bold graphics and texture plays characterize a style now essential.
SKE is undoubtedly an artist to follow, to start or enrich a collection with rising value.
Award-winning Artist – Pop Art & Contemporary Street Art
A UNIVERSE BETWEEN HERITAGE AND MODERNITY
SKE’s work fits into a prestigious lineage. His line carries the visual efficiency of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, while incorporating the subversion of Banksy or the pioneer Blek le Rat. His works bridge eras: they revisit the classics, not hesitating to remix Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, Hokusai’s The Great Wave, or Picasso’s deconstructed forms to confront them with a modern urban aesthetic close to Mr Brainwash or Kaws.
POP CULTURE & NOSTALGIA
Drawing on the collective imagination, SKE manipulates icons from our childhood. He stages the Disney universe with figures like Mickey or Pinocchio, and Scrooge McDuck’s symbolic greed. The influence of gaming, comics, and graphic novels is omnipresent: from the Nintendo universe and the legendary Game Boy, to Pokemon creatures (Pikachu, Charizard, Ash), through Marvel superheroes. SKE crystallizes these memories in the manner of Daniel Arsham or Takashi Murakami.
LUXURY, HYPE & CONSUMER SOCIETY
In a style sometimes reminiscent of Alec Monopoly, the artist plays with codes of success and materialism. The Dollar symbol sits next to luxury and fashion logos. His canvases capture the “Hype” aesthetic: sneakers (Nike Air Jordan, Adidas, Off-White) and haute couture (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Louboutin) mingle with automotive adrenaline (Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG) and precision watchmaking (Rolex, Tag Heuer), not to mention mass-consumption icons like Coca-Cola. It is vibrant art, with textures that recall the glossy finish of Jeff Koons or the facets of Richard Orlinski.
This work is ideal for enriching a collection or bringing a dynamic touch to your interior.
