A very fine ancient copy of “The Psalms of David, put into verse, revised and approved,” new edition, printed in Lausanne, at Henri Vincent, printer-bookseller, in 1825.

This is a charming early 19th-century book of devotion / psalter, containing the text of the psalms with musical notation printed, making it both a religious work and a beautiful historical object of devotion.

The copy is distinguished by its very elegant, entirely original period binding, in red morocco leather, embossed grain, richly decorated with gold-ruled borders and frames on the boards, with an ornate spine featuring gold tools and the title “Psalms” stamped in gold letters. The edges are gold-edged, which further enhances its refined appearance.

A particularly appealing feature: the work retains its original metal clasp, a decorative and practical element now rather uncommon in this condition. This clasp, with a shell motif, adds real aesthetic presence and gives the copy the character of a beautiful collectible.

Good general condition for a book of this age.
Solid and highly decorative binding. Normal wear on the headcaps, corners and hinges, not detracting from the overall presentation. Gold tooling still clearly visible. Original clasp present. Interior generally clean with some foxing, creases and signs of time consistent with age.
A very beautiful, complete copy and particularly visually appealing.
