Tobacco jar - Ceramic - Suffragette

Ceramic tobacco jar the form of a shouting suffragette with a removable hat forming the lid.
The woman has large eyes and an open mouth. She is wearing the purple, green, and white colors of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) on her hat and the sash on her shoulder. On the base is the inscription 'I Say Down with the Trousers'.
The removable top enables storage of either tobacco or small biscuits.
Possibly Germany, ca. 1910.

These types of objects were used to poke fun at and undermine the militant suffrage movement.

Heigh: ca. 15 cm.

Width (hat): ca. 14 cm.

Condition: overall in good condition for its age, some wear to the polychromy, a few small hairlines in the bottom on the inside, not cracked to the outside.
