The first image represents the passage of the artwork from the external wall to the interior space of buildings. What is born on the street, in the urban and public context, is transferred inside apartments, houses or museums, completely changing environment and meaning. In this case the most interesting street-side view is selected and cut out—the one on which the street artist had carried out the exterior intervention. The fragment is then detached from the original context of the street and transformed into an autonomous object. Once cut, this piece of wall can be transferred and placed indoors: in homes, in buildings, in museums or in other structures. In this way the work changes environment and function, moving from the public and everyday space of the street to a private or institutional space, where it is preserved and exhibited as a true artistic object. All this represents a kind of imagined reconstruction by the artist, reflecting on the process of moving the work from the urban context to the domestic or museum setting.
