Painter Aat Verhoog - Rijswijk November 11, 1933 - is a Dutch painter and sculptor. He belongs to the artists' group of the Nieuwe Haagse School. His work is often magical realism and always centers on people. He paints them in theatrical tableaux. He pays a great amount of attention to Greek myths, history, and sometimes sport. In his work, mathematicians, poets, as well as himself and his surroundings frequently appear. Aat Verhoog won several art prizes, including the Jacob Maris Prize. His bronze sculptures are of the same style as his paintings. His work can be found both at home and abroad and in many collections of ministries, museums, and private collections. He always paints with oil on canvas. In 2020 Verhoog held his final exhibition at Pulchri Studio, the Hague-based artists' society where he began his career.
